BENEFIT ASSESSMENTS FOR INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS
The Charles County Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing on March 31, 2020 at 6:00 p.m., in the County Commissioners Meeting Room of the Charles County Government Building, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, Maryland, to consider legislation concerning benefit assessments for infrastructure improvements, numbered Bill 2020-01.
The proposed legislation will amend Chapter 97-2 through 97-5 of the Code of Charles County to expand the manner of payment of assessments for infrastructure improvements by allowing any unpaid benefit assessment to be transferrable to subsequent property owners.
Individuals or representatives of groups wishing to make oral or written comments are encouraged to attend the hearing. Those individuals or representative of groups wishing to speak must sign in. Speaker sign-up will begin 30 minutes (1/2 hour) prior to the hearing and will end at the commencement of the hearing. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes. Written comments may be submitted in lieu of oral testimony, or to expand upon oral testimony, to Carol DeSoto, Acting Clerk to the County Commissioners, at PublicRecord@CharlesCountyMD.gov, or to 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Written comments will be accepted until the Commissioners close the public record. The County Commissioners reserve the right to extend the time frame allotted for the hearing.
