The Department of Community Services’ Child Care Program, provided by AlphaBEST Education, offers a Before and After School Program at Charles County Elementary Schools and an OnSite all day Child Care Program and Before and After School Program located at the Department of Community Services Building in Port Tobacco.

Before & After School Child Care Program

The Before and After School Child Care Program offers Children attending County elementary schools competent, quality care for those who otherwise would be without adult supervision during the crucial hours before school begins and after it ends without leaving their school. Parental involvement and participation are key factors of the program. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided.

The program operates August – June, Monday–Friday, from 6:00 a.m. until the opening of school and after school ends until 6:00 p.m. Centers may remain open 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. during school closings (except holidays and closings due to weather) for an additional fee. No transportation is provided.

The OnSite Child Care Program

The OnSite Child Care Program at the Department of Community Services Building in Port Tobacco operates Monday-Friday 6:00 am-6:00 pm and provides care for children ages 6 weeks-5 years and Before and After School Care for children in Grades 1-5. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided; however parents are responsible for providing a lunch for their child/children.
