Definitions:

  • Total Homes/Businesses to be Passed - Number of homes/businesses that will be able to sign up for service when the phase is completed.
  • Customer Service Agreements Received - Number of homes/businesses that have signed up to receive service when it becomes available.
  • Customers Connected - Number of customers currently receiving high-speed internet!

 Project Overview

The Charles County Commissioners, Maryland Office of Statewide Broadband, and ThinkBig Networks, LLC have partnered to bring high-speed internet via Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) to Nanjemoy and parts of Cobb Neck. This is a Category 1 project to construct a comprehensive broadband network to these areas that do not have any existing broadband infrastructure. Construction is scheduled to start in spring 2021 and is expected to be completed in February 2024.

The project has been designed by ThinkBig to be built in five phases and will include underground and aerial construction methods. The preferred method for deployment is underground as it provides a more secure environment for the infrastructure and can be deployed more quickly. Aerial deployment is planned only for those areas where ThinkBig is not granted an easement from the landowner.
