Maryland's Public Information Act ("PIA"), General Provisions Article Title 4 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, grants the people of the State a right of access to public records while protecting legitimate governmental interests and the privacy rights of individual citizens.  It has been a part of the Annotated Code of Maryland since 1970 and is similar in purpose to the federal Freedom of Information Act. 

It is important that you specifically describe the precise records you seek so that the County can research the request. Please be sure to provide all necessary contact information as further discussions may be necessary to clarify your request.
