On November 1, the Oil and Antifreeze drop off at Gilbert Run Park will be relocated to the recycling center and accessible during normal operating hours of Monday, Wednesday, Saturday from 9am-5pm.

Materials are collected curbside April through December

Accepted 

  • Grass, leaves, bundled brush, and branches.

Instructions

  • Place materials in paper yard waste bags or containers with handles and marked with a large “X” facing the street.
  • Containers are to be 40 gallon size or smaller.
  • The maximum weight per container or bundle is 50 pounds.
  • Branches cannot exceed 4 feet in length or 6 inches in diameter and must be bundled together or in a container.

Not Accepted

  • Plastic bags.
  • Loose branches and brush, dirt, rocks, sod, bamboo, stumps, and trash.
  • Yard Waste placed inside of a Charles County recycling cart will not be collected.
  • Containers cannot be commercial hauler issued trash cans.
  • Yard waste that exceeds 50 pounds, 4 feet in length, or 6 inches in diameter is not accepted curbside.*

Subscription Yard Waste Collection

  • Residents within the subscription service area schedule collection on an as-needed basis. CLICK HERE to schedule your collection. The deadline to sign up for service is midnight before the collection day.   

* Yard waste that exceeds the curbside size specifications can be taken to Piney Church Road Mulch Facility. Commercial yard waste loads are subject to fees. Please contact the Landfill Scale House at 301-932-9038 for additional details.
