County Accepting State Legislative Proposals until August 21
The Charles County Commissioners have established time guidelines in preparation of the County Commissioners’ 2024 State Legislative Package. Any member of the public interested in submitting a legislative proposal for a revision or addition to Maryland law is invited to submit a written request to the Board of Charles County Commissioners, c/o Office of the County Attorney by submitting the online legislative proposal form to the Office of the County Attorney found at https://www.charlescountymd.gov/government/public-comments/legislative-proposals or mail it to the address below by August 21, 2023:

All legislative proposals will be linked to the County website for viewing by the public and presented to the County Commissioners during a public hearing on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Anyone submitting a proposal is asked to attend the public hearing to provide a brief synopsis of the proposal and answer any questions the Board members or public may have. If the hearing is to take place virtually, further instruction will be provided regarding virtual or call-in participation.
Thereafter, all proposals will be compiled into a preliminary legislative package and reviewed by the County Commissioners at a work session on Tuesday, September 26, 2022, where they will determine which of the proposals will be included in the Charles County Commissioners’ 2024 State Legislative Package and forwarded to the Charles County Delegation in October.
