Processing Facility / Transfer Station for Solid Waste
The Charles County Commissioners will hold a Virtual Public Hearing on September 22, 2021, at 6:00 p.m., to consider a Zoning Text Amendment in accordance with Chapter 297-447 of the Charles County Zoning Ordinance.
Zoning Text Amendment #20-160 (Bill #2021-04), submitted by Acton Sun Land, LLC, proposes to modify the Charles County Zoning Ordinance by adding a definition and development standards for a new industrial use, specifically a Processing Facility / Transfer Station for Solid Waste, in the Heavy Industrial (IH) zoning district.
The meeting will be held remotely via video teleconference. Persons with questions or requests for more information regarding this hearing may call 301-645-0692. The hearing is open to the public and public testimony is encouraged.
To speak during the September 22, 2021, Public Hearing, residents must call 301-885-2779 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on September 22, 2021, to register. Once registered, residents will be called between 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on September 22, 2021, to testify. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes. If a registered speaker is not available to speak when called, the County has the right to move onto the next caller.
Comments will be accepted September 3, 2021 starting at 8:00 a.m. through September 22, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. by using the e-comment feature at:

In addition, residents may submit comments by mail to the following address: Commissioners of Charles County, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, MD 20646. Comments sent by mail must be received no later than September 22, 2021.
