Amendment to Chapter 235, Farming
Change to the Composition of the Agricultural Reconciliation Committee
Notice is hereby given that the Charles County Commissioners will conduct a Virtual Public Hearing on September 29, 2021 at 6 p.m. to consider the proposed amendment to Chapter 235 of the Charles County Code.
Bill #2021-05 seeks to delete the reference to “Agricultural Advisory Committee” (which no longer exists) and replace it with “Agricultural Land Preservation Advisory Board.” This would allow the Agricultural Land Preservation Advisory Board to recommend one of the five members to the Agricultural Reconciliation Committee.
The meeting will be held remotely via video teleconference. Persons with questions or requests for more information regarding this hearing may call 301-645-0692. The hearing is open to the public and public testimony is encouraged.
To speak during the September 29, 2021 Public Hearing, residents must call 301-885-2779 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on September 29, 2021 to register. Once registered, residents will be called between 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on September 29, 2021, to testify. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes. If a registered speaker is not available to speak when called, the County has the right to move onto the next caller.
Comments will be accepted September 10, 2021 starting at 8:00 a.m. through September 29, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. by using the e-comment feature at https://www.charlescountymd.gov/government/public-comments/agricultural-reconciliation-committee-bill-2021-05 or by calling 301-645-0652 to leave a message. In addition, residents may submit comments by mail to the following address: Commissioners of Charles County, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, MD 20646. Comments sent by mail must be received no later than September 29, 2021.
