Required Face Coverings to Reduce the Spread of COVID-19 Ordinance/Resolution 2021-21

The Charles County Commissioners, sitting as the Charles County Board of Health, will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 4:30 p.m., to consider proposed regulations that would institute required face coverings in Charles County, to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The proposed regulation would institute a Charles County Wide mask mandate. This mask mandate requires the use of Face Coverings, meaning a covering that fully covers a person’s nose and mouth , inside of any Charles County business, commercial establishment, restaurant, store, place of worship or any other building open to and allowing entrance of the public.

The meeting will be held remotely via video teleconference. Persons with questions or requests for more information regarding this hearing may call 301-645-0555. The hearing is open to the public and public testimony is encouraged.

The public meeting is scheduled to be conducted virtually. To register to speak during the Public Hearing, please call 301-885-2779 on January 18, 2022 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at that time, registered speakers will be provided information on how to join the virtual public hearing. Speakers are asked to be available between 4:30 pm– 9:00pm. on January 18, 2022. If a registered speaker is unavailable, the County has the right to move onto the next caller. Comments may also be submitted online through January 18, 2022, 4 p.m. by using the e-comment feature by clicking here or by calling 301-645-0652 to leave a message. In addition, residents may submit comments by mail to the following address: Commissioners of Charles County, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, MD 20646. Comments sent by mail must be received no later than Jan. 18, 2022.
