COUNTY COMMISSIONERS’ COMPENSATION
The Charles County Commissioners will conduct a Virtual Public Hearing on February 9, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. to consider an amendment to the Charles County Code to address Commissioner Compensation for the term beginning in 2023.
The proposed legislation will amend Chapter 27-2 of Charles County Code by adopting the recommendations of the Compensation Commission regarding the salary of the County Commissioner President and the County Commissioners for the term beginning in 2023. The proposed legislation provides for an increase to the salary of the Commissioner President beginning in 2023 and sets the salary of the remaining County Commissioners at its current level beginning in 2023.
The meeting will be held remotely via video teleconference. Persons with questions or requests for more information regarding this hearing may call 301-645-0555. The hearing is open to the public and public testimony is encouraged.
To speak during the February 9, 2022, Public Hearing, residents must call 301-885-2779 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on February 9, 2022, to register. Once registered, residents will be called between 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on February 9, 2022, to testify. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes. If a registered speaker is not available to speak when called, the County has the right to move onto the next caller.
Comments will be accepted beginning January 21, 2022, starting at 8:00 a.m. through February 9, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. by using the e-comment feature at https://www.charlescountymd.gov/government/public-comments/bill-no-2022-01-commissioner-compensation or by calling 301-645-0652 to leave a message. In addition, residents may submit comments by mail to the following address: Commissioners of Charles County, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, MD 20646. Comments sent by mail must be received no later than February 9, 2022.
