PUBLIC NOTICE
CONCERNING THE PROPOSED ISSUANCE OF BONDS FOR THE HUGHESVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT AND RESQUE SQUAD, INC.
Notice is hereby given that the County Commissioners of Charles County, Maryland (the "County") will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. (EDT), in a hybrid format, both virtually and in person at the Charles County Government Building, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, Maryland, to consider the proposed issuance by the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc., a Maryland not-for-profit corporation (the “VFD”), of not to exceed Six Hundred and Eighty Five Thousand Three Hundred and Twenty Four dollars ($685,324.00) in aggregate principal amount of its bonds, notes, or other obligations.
Equipment and Location: The proceeds from the sale of such bonds will finance the purchase of an Engine Tanker II described as 2024 Pierce Enforcer Pumper Tanker (herein after referred to as “equipment”).
The issuance of such bonds by the VFD will not constitute a debt or pledge of the faith and credit of the State of Maryland or Charles County and neither the faith and credit nor the taxing power of the State of Maryland or any political subdivision thereof, including Charles County, will be pledged to the payment of such bonds.
Initial Owner and Principal User: The apparatus will be owned by the VFD and used by the VFD in providing firefighting services to areas of Charles County.

Individuals or representatives of groups wishing to make oral or written comments are encouraged to attend the hearing.
In-person: Speaker sign-up will begin 30 minutes (1/2 hour) prior to the hearing at the Charles County Government Building (200 Baltimore Street, La Plata) and will end at the commencement of the hearing.
Virtually: Call 301-885-2779 between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. September 28, 2022 to register to speak. Once registered, citizens will receive a virtual link to testify between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. after in-person speakers testify. If you are not available to speak when you are called, we have the right to move on to the next caller. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes.
Written or voicemail comments may be submitted in lieu of oral testimony, or to expand upon oral testimony, and will be accepted August 12, 2022 starting at 8 a.m. through September 28, 2022, 5 p.m. for:
