NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOVEMBER 29, 2022
CONCERNING THE PROPOSED ISSUANCE OF BONDS, NOTES OR OTHER
OBLIGATIONS OF THE TENTH DISTRICT VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT, INC.
Notice is hereby given that the Charles County Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., in a hybrid format, both virtually and in person at the Charles County Government Building, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, Maryland, to consider the proposed issuance by the Tenth District Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., a Maryland corporation, of not to exceed $1,600,000 in aggregate principal amount of its bonds, notes or other obligations (the “Obligations”).
Facility and Location: The proceeds from the sale of the Obligations will finance or refinance the acquisition of (i) a 2024 Pierce Enforcer Custom Heavy Duty Rescue Truck and (ii) 2024 Pierce Enforcer Custom Pumper Truck (the “Fire Equipment”) to be located at the VFD's existing firehouse at 7035 Poorhouse Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
The issuance of such Obligations by the VFD will not constitute a debt or pledge of the faith and credit of the State of Maryland or Charles County and neither the faith and credit nor the taxing power of the State of Maryland or any political subdivision thereof, including Charles County, will be pledged to the payment of such Obligations.
Initial Owner and Principal User: The Fire Equipment will be owned by the VFD and be used by the VFD in providing firefighting services to certain areas of Charles County.
Individuals or representatives of groups wishing to make oral or written comments are encouraged to attend the hearing. A reasonable opportunity will be provided for interested individuals to express their views on the proposed plan of financing and the proposed Fire Equipment.
In-person: Speaker sign-up will begin 30 minutes (1/2 hour) prior to the hearing at the Charles County Government Building (200 Baltimore Street, La Plata) and will end at the commencement of the hearing.
Virtually: Call 301-638-0801 between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. November 29, 2022 to register to speak. Once registered, citizens will receive a virtual link to testify between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. after in-person speakers testify. If you are not available to speak when you are called, we have the right to move on to the next caller. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes.
Written or voicemail comments may be submitted in lieu of oral testimony, or to expand upon oral testimony, and will be accepted November 11, 2022 starting at 8 a.m. through November 29, 2022 at 5 p.m. for:
