Project Overview

In 2021, the Charles County Commissioners, Maryland Office of Statewide Broadband, and Comcast have partnered to bring high-speed internet to several communities in Charles County through the Neighborhood Broadband Expansion - Category 2 (NBE-Cat2) project. This project was possible in part due to funding awarded through the FY21 Expansion of Existing Broadband Networks Funding Program through the State of Maryland.

NBE-Cat2 Project

The NBE-Cat2 project was completed in November 2022. The project brought broadband access to over 150 homes in various Category 2 areas. Category 2 means the residents are located in "pockets" of unserved in areas that are otherwise served. The following neighborhoods/roads were included in this project:

  • Banks O'Dee
  • Belle Ridge
  • Cameron Ridge
  • Emory Place
  • Oaks Road
  • Serenity Woods
  • Waverly Point

Agreements

Finalized in February 2022.
