Pursuant to the Maryland Police Reform Act of 2021, each county must establish an Administrative Charging Committee to consider complaints of police misconduct involving members of the public. The Charging Committee must review the investigative files of the local law enforcement agency to determine whether to administratively charge the law enforcement officer. If the Administrative Charging Committee administratively charges the law enforcement officer, it must also recommend discipline in accordance with the law enforcement agency’s disciplinary matrix.

The Charles County Administrative Charging Committee (CCACC) is composed of five (5) civilian members- three (3) members appointed by the Board of Charles County Commissioners, one of whom serves also as the chairperson of the Police Accountability Board; and two (2) members appointed by Charles County Police Accountability Board.

The CCACC shall meet at least once per month or as needed.

NOTE TO APPLICANTS:

An applicant convicted of any of the following misdemeanors within a period of fifteen (15) years prior to applying for membership to the CCACC shall be deemed ineligible for appointment: a.) conviction of a misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of greater than one (1) year; b.) crime of violence; or c.) perjury.

An applicant is ineligible for appointment to the CCACC while subject to an order of probation before judgment, whether supervised or unsupervised.
