The Charles County Circuit Court offers Child Access and/or Property Mediation and Permanency Planning Mediation.

Child Access Mediation

The court may order parties with contested issues of custody or visitation to attend two session of a two-hour mediation.  The court selects a mediator from the Designated List of Child Access Mediators.  The Alternative Dispute Resolution Coordinator maintains a list of qualified mediators for child access disputes that is available for review, upon request.  Child access mediators charge a fee and the parties pay the mediator directly, in advance of each session.  Visit Child Access Mediation for more information. 

Marital Property Mediation

The court may order parties to mediate marital property issues by attending two sessions of a two-hour mediation.  The court selects a mediator from the Designated List of Marital Property Mediators.  The Alternative Dispute Resolution Coordinator maintains a list of qualified mediators for marital property disputes, which is available upon request. Marital property mediators charge a fee and the parties pay the mediator directly, in advance of each session.  Visit Marital Property Mediation for more information. 

Permanency Planning Mediation

The court may order parties to mediate Child In Need of Assistance (CINA) and Termination of Parental Rights (TPR) issues by attending one or more sessions of a two-hour mediation. The court selects a mediator from the Designated List of Permanency Planning Mediators.  The mediators do not charge a fee to the parties.  Visit Permanency Planning Mediation for more information.
