The Charles County Circuit Court Legal Resource Center & Public Law Library is located in the basement of the Circuit Court building.  It is open to the public Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and closed on holidays.  Free parking is available.

Mission: The Legal Resource Center and Public Law Library serves the judiciary, attorneys, and the public to provide the resources needed for legal research and information to foster the judiciary’s mission of fair, efficient, and effective justice for all.

About us: The Legal Resource Center & Public Law Library provides access to local, state, and federal legal resources in print and in online format.  Legal reference and research assistance is available with access to court forms, online and print legal information resources, and access to free limited legal advice.

*We are a NON-circulating library.*

Books and resources cannot be checked out to the public; however, you may use the books while visiting the library during regular business hours.  Visitors can also make copies.  The cost for copies is $ 0.50 cents per page.  Only cash is accepted.


The Legal Resource Coordinator can assist you with using the following resources:

  • Legal research instruction in the choice, and use of, legal information resources.
  • Access to online legal databases, Westlaw, LexisNexis, SASCI-CALC (Child Support Calculator), Kaufman's Alimony Guidelines.
  • Assistance with obtaining self-help resources and obtaining free limited legal advice.
  • Four (4) Public Access Computers.
  • Free Public WiFi.
  • Printing/Copying: $ 0.50 cents per page (CASH ONLY).
  • Scanners.

The Legal Resource Coordinator cannot:

  • Give legal advice or recommended language for use on legal documents.
  • Interpret legal material.
  • Conduct legal research on your behalf.
  • Speak to Judges or Family Magistrates on your behalf.
  • Recommend court forms or review court forms/legal documents for sufficiency.
