Charles County Government both receives grants from designated private, state, regional, or federal agencies and appropriates budget funds annually to provide services to County residents through awards to non-profit agencies.
By authority of the Board of County Commissioners, responsibility for management of the non-profit grants award program rests with the Charles County Charitable Trust.

Charles County Government actively pursues grant funding from a variety of federal, state, and foundation sources as part of a mixed-funding approach to support County programs and operations that serve the public. Funds from grants serve a wide variety of needs in the community, from providing necessary citizen services such as housing assistance and programs for seniors, to funding capital needs such as parks and public transportation.
As of March 31, 2023, the County's grant related amended budget is $24,210,954 in Federal funding sources, and $3,434,790 in State funds for programs as follows:
