The Charles County Historic Preservation Commission is pleased to announce its annual award program for outstanding achievements in historic preservation. Awards are presented in two categories: Preservation Projects and Preservation Service. Individuals, businesses, organizations, or projects that deserve recognition are eligible for nomination.

Preservation Project Award
This award recognizes excellence in the preservation and restoration of historic buildings, interpretation of architectural features in new construction, and adaptive reuse of historic structures.

Judging Standards:

  • Architectural Integrity and Compatibility
  • Successful Adaptation or Use of a Historic Structure
  • Quality of Construction, Craftsmanship, or Technical Excellence.

All nominated projects must be located in Charles County and must have been completed between January 1, 2024 – December 31, 2024.

Preservation Service Award
This award recognizes outstanding achievement in and support for furthering the aims of historic preservation in Charles County, including:
  • Education
  • Research
  • Development
  • Planning
  • Advocacy
  • Community Leadership.

All nominated individuals must live or work in Charles County. 
All nominated businesses or organizations must be located in Charles County.

The submission deadline for receiving nomination forms is July 25, 2025.
