The Trust launched a grant program for Transitional Housing in Charles County.  Funds were awarded to a local nonprofit organization who provides transitional housing for women seeking a fresh start following homelessness, substance abuse, domestic violence, or other traumatic life events.  This grant will allow the nonprofit organization to expand their program to women and their children.   The program expansion and new beds are scheduled to be available in the fall of 2025.  For more information on this program, click here.

To address food insecurity, ARPA funding is being provided to help supplement the Maryland Market Money program which is offered by Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission (SMADC), a division of the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland (TCCSMD).  SMADC is committed to expanding and promoting a viable and profitable agricultural farming community in Southern Maryland.  The Maryland Market Money (MMM) is a statewide food access program that feeds Marylanders and supports farmers. MMM removes economic barriers for Marylanders experiencing food insecurity, providing a dollar-for-dollar match for purchases made using federal nutrition benefits at participating Maryland farmers markets, farm stands, and CSAs, while providing technical assistance, training, marketing, and additional services to stakeholders.  Click here: to find locations accepting MMM.  Click here:  to find out how to offer the MMM program at your farmers market, farm stands, or CSA operations.
