Welcome to the Charles County Adult Drug Court

The Charles County Adult Drug Court (“ADC”) was established in 2022, and is a voluntary, four-phase program which was created to rehabilitate offenders with substance use disorders.  The ADC team is comprised of a Judge, Public Defender, Assistant State’s Attorney, Drug Court Coordinator, Drug Court Case Manager, Probation Officer, Law Enforcement Representative, and Treatment Provider.

The ADC program is at least 12-18 months, on average, which includes frequent drug testing, judicial and probation supervision, group, individual, and family counseling, educational opportunities and the use of sanctions and incentives. In order for a participant to be eligible to graduate from the ADC program, they must complete all phases of the program; achieve goals established in their treatment plan; abstain from the use of illicit drugs and alcohol by consistently providing negative urine screens; demonstrate financial stability by maintaining gainful employment, completing a training program or displaying other legal means of support; responsibly manage physical and mental health problems; and establish a sober/abstinent social support network.

Upon successful completion of all phases of the program, charges may be dismissed, reduced, or expunged.

Referrals to the ADC are made by Charles County Circuit Court Judges, the Office of Public Defender, the State’s Attorney’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office, the Detention Center, or the Probation Office. Please visit the Make a Referral tab for more information on the referral process.
